His Mother Was a Mudder

And his father was, too!

March 31 Zach and I are entering the Tough Mudder adventure race, billed as "probably the toughest event on the planet."

Why would we want to do this, you ask? Well...mostly just to say we did it. One of Zach's goals for the year is to compete in several events, and this is about as big an event as we can muster.

We have no interest in marathons, or even 10Ks. We want to put into practice the skills and balance and strength that we work on every single morning, and working through 10 miles and 28 obstacles seems like a challenge we'd like to bite off.

Having something to train for also makes it easier to get up and work out. It gives you extra incentive to push yourself a little harder, because you've got to be ready to get through the course. We have two and half months to prepare.

If you're local and want to join our team, let me know. We have four people so far, and we'll take as many as we can get. We'll register by Jan. 31.

Happy 9th Anniversary to my lovely husband!

If anyone had told me nine years ago that my deer-hunting, chicken-fried-steak-eating husband would be doing yoga and eating tofu with me, I would have told them to get outta here. Here's to changing, growing, and getting better every day!

Workout of the Day
Insanity: The Asylum, Speed & Agility
See there? We changed it up a bit. Today was supposed to be P90X2 Recovery and Mobility, but we have to get ready for The Big Event. We need more cardio, plus all the speed and agility we can get. We'll do the Recovery and Mobility stretching/foam rolling tonight in front of Modern Family. Multi-tasking!

(And don't go griping to my husband that we aren't going out for our anniversary. The poor guy has a one-two punch of anniversary and my birthday within two days of each other, so we're going out Friday instead. It's wife-approved.)
