Another food movie: Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

Guess what I watched this weekend? Yup, another food documentary! This is getting to be some weird addiction for me.

I know my favorite food movie tends to be the last one I watched....but you guys, seriously, this was great. You need to watch it.

The movie is about Australian Joe Cross' mission to cure himself from a painful autoimmune disorder and obesity by undertaking a 60-day juice fast. He did nothing but juice fresh vegetables for every meal for 60 days! During that time he took a road trip across America and interviewed nearly 500 people about what they eat and why. It's enlightening, disturbing, and very entertaining.

The best part of the film was Phil, a 400+ pound truck driver who takes Joe up on his offer to help him save his life by changing his diet. The most amazing thing about Phil was not that he lost more than 100 pounds (and counting) on the juice fast, but how he gained confidence and a vitality for life by helping others discover that they can help themselves, too. He oughtta be a Team Beachbody Coach!

Check out the trailer:

"Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" can be downloaded on Netflix. It's worth your time, for sure.
